More Than Just a Dorm

Chapin has a proud history of being one of the foremost reasons why the residential college system at Northerwestern is a success. More than just a place to live, Chapin is a well-developed community centered around both the friendliness of its residents and its functioning as a residential college. Throughout the year Chapin has faculty-presented firesides, lunch with faculty members, social events like the formal and the barbeque as well as several smaller parties throughout the year, and a major quarterly cultural excursion, coupled with smaller cultural events planned throughout the quarter.

Chapin has its famed frivolous readings where faculty let their hair down to present some ever-so-delightful readings. Chapin always fields IM teams in volleyball, football, floor hockey, basketball, softball, soccer and sometimes tennis, and we're getting more comptetive by the year! Sometimes things just happen on their own such as gatherings in the hallways or hall sports (not doable in other dorms where the hallways are much smaller). On the whole, Chapin's existence as a residential college makes it a great place to live.
